Roland and I had the pleasure of DJing, Hosting and Photographing the Maui Whale Festival Run & Walk, Doing the Photobooth for the Masquerade Gala and DJing at the Harbor party, before the big rains came in! Watch below for our recap video with a behind the scenes look at all the fun!
Cannot wait till next year. ALSO A HUGE Mahalo to Pacific Whale Foundation for the gifts given to our Ohana (Roland got to go to Oceancamp and we took his grandma on an awesome WhaleWatch!
Best thing about all of our involvement this year, and in years past as customers/tourists, is the WHALES KEEP THE PROFITS! Nothing beats having a good time, while making a good impact.
The past few weeks. I have been building some amazing playlists on there from years of my experience as a Pro DJ. and while I know most DJs would guard these lists like nuclear weapons…
I have decided to make at least one blog post a month be dedicated to giving away some of my “Special Sauce” in the form of Spotify.com playlists!
Stay tuned for many more playlists for all sorts of themes and occasions from America’s BEST reviewed wedding dj YourMixMaui.Com, available for Hire for Weddings and Private events on Maui, Hawaii!
This weeks submission is my awesomely sultry and fun 90S HipHop Samples Dinner playlist. I think of it as an “appetizer to the dancefloor”
The collections power comes not just from its smooth, warm and funky sounds, but the theme as well! All of these tracks, originally made in the 70s and 80s. Were later sampled, (ie used in a loop as part of another song years later) into famous 90s hiphop tracks!
Take for example track 6 in the list:
Michael Mcdonald(Of doobie brothers fame) – I keep forgetting(1982) – (Youtube below)
Was “sampled” 12 years later by the one and only Warren G! Warren G & Nate Dogg – Regulate (1994) – (Youtube Below)
Get the idea?
So all of these songs being made in the 70s/80s will have your older listeners hearing some of their favorite RnB slow jams, while younger guests will hear their newer hip-hop renditions, all in the same song! Both listeners should have ears equally curious and ready for a night of dancing by the time this list plays through. Trust me… I’m a professional 🙂
There are even a few odd balls in there from Indian music to movie scores, as you never know the inspiration some of these producers used to create the 90s rap songs that have become such staples with my generation!
This list is ALWAYS a huge hit at weddings as a dinner background playlist on our way to warming up the dancefloor! Enjoy!
